On Friday 25 May Operadagen Rotterdam 2012 will begin! We would like to invite you to the modest opening of the opera festival on Schouwburgplein before the festival breaks loose across the city!
The Belgian Minister of Culture, Joke Schauvliege, will open the festival officially. Enjoy the choirs singing and have a drink with the festival staff and festival partners on Schouwburgplein from 17.00 to 17.30 hrs. The first performances start at 19.00 hrs. Enjoy the festival with us for 10 days!

World première of The Haunted House of History
Wunderbaum battles against the excesses of frivolity in The Haunted House of History (Het Spookhuis der Geschiedenis). What the world needs now is drive, action, and getting things done. 'Escape from Escapism'. Zombies, populists, polluted birds and Steve Jobs appear on stage one after the other in this gruesome appeal for banishment addressed to the whole of mankind.

The classical soprano Claron McFadden enters a new world of sound with the talented and eccentric saxophone quartet Artvark. Ellington meets Ravel with a dash of Edgar Allan Poe. Four gentlemen and a diva are meandering through musical traditions while moving across the stage in an improvised choreography.
