La Femme Humaine is a soap opera in five short parts, one of which will be performed almost each evening in the foyer of the Rotterdam Schouwburg. A woman tries to come to grips with the nature of her affair with a married man in a succession of telephone calls. The woman scrutinises her own expectations from a man, as lover, as husband, as father and as a friend. Can she find everything she wants in one man? If not, should she lower her expectations? And how do men cope with such situations?
