  • Record number visitors for Operadagen Rotterdam

    23.000 people visited the 11th edition of Operadagen Rotterdam, which is more than ever. One third of the shows were sold out: another record number for the festival. Among the box office hits were Toxic Psalms, Parsifal and underwater opera AquaSonic. The organization is happy with the increasing popularity, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

  • Operadagen Rotterdam shortlisted for Classical:NEXT Innovation Award

    Operadagen Rotterdam is shortlisted for the prestigious Classical:NEXT Innovation Award, being the only Dutch organisation nominated for an award. The nominations were issued by a committee of international colleagues. The 3.000 registered delegates of the international network will decide as of March 1 which organisation on the shortlist of 10 will become the winner. The organisation of Classical:NEXT will announce the winner of the Innovation Award on May 28, during the closing ceremony of Classical:NEXT in Rotterdam.

  • APPLY NOW! Nieuwe Stemmen 2016

    The annual young artist programme 'Nieuwe Stemmen' of Operadagen Rotterdam is set to present a number of performances as part of the 2016 festival, May 20-29, and centering around a new fully staged production of Monteverdi's L'ORFEO. Participants in Nieuwe Stemmen spend 8 months creating their own individual solo programme, receiving regular private musical and dramatic coaching, as well as being led in the dramaturgy of creating a full-length and fully integrated work to be presented several times in the week leading up to the festival in the form of House Concerts. In addition, they participate in a number of intensive rehearsal weekends to create a new production of Monteverdi's undisputed masterpiece, the L'ORFEO of 1607, performed two times as part of the festival. Additional performances in the festival are also possible. Selected participants receive both training and honorarium.
